Tracks of My Tears

“The Tracks of My Tears” – my daughter and I sing ~

Every once in a while my daughter, Audra, and I work on a song together. Yesterday was one of those “once in whiles.”

Audra is a talented songwriter, singer and musician. She plays guitar (self-taught) and has several students.

I have been singing since I was old enough to chew gum! The back story on that is often I was the “featured soloist” when my dad was planting churches – an expedient move when you are starting a church with 5 members – our family! One Sunday I got up to sing and had to take my gum out first. Where to put it? On the piano, of course! And, you guessed it, when my solo ended I put that gum right back in my mouth. I promise I don’t do that anymore.

I hope you enjoy our arrangement of Smokey Robinson’s “The Tracks of My Tears.” (Guitar ~ Audra; Vocals ~ Melanie & Audra)

We sat in our studio (at the kitchen counter!) and worked this up in about an hour. Just click on the link above and start the play button. While you’re there, look around. My daughter has more of  her singing on her site.

I listened to the music — so, so good. I love it — it made my heart just swoon. As a mother with 2 daughters, I hope that we can do things together like y’all do (but it won’t be singing, trust me).

And, I listened to your Encouragement Cafe radio appearance. You did such a good job of sharing your heart and God’s truth. I’m assuming by what you mentioned, that you got to talk to Betsy’s sister. I pray much fruit continues to come of this.

You two have beautiful voices! It brought tears to my eyes. My mom died when I was a teen. My mom loved to write songs and play guitar. She and I would sing her songs together all the time. It is one of my favorite mom/daughter memories. The two of you are leaving a powerful/lasting legacy!
