Floppy Hat on Food
Last night (Friday) my daughter, Audra, and I went to a Food Truck Rally in Palm Harbor. Palm Harbor is a pretty little city along the coast line just a few miles north of us.
We perused the posted menus on each food truck and I decided on the seafood truck. I got two grouper sliders.
- perfectly deep fried grouper between soft slider buns
- lettuce, pickle, red onion topped with tartar sauce to which I added a swirl of “Rooster Sauce”
Audra went with the organic truck. Her bowl was layered with jasmine rice, shredded beef seasoned with chimichurri and topped with chopped lettuce. She liked it. I’ll keep my grouper sliders.
By the way, if you are ever in our lovely area on the central west coast of Florida, you must stop for the following:
- a grouper sandwich
- Greek food (gyro and Greek salad)
- Cuban sandwich (I make these at home!)
Floppy Hat on Nail Polish
I rarely wear nail polish on my fingernails but I do like it on my toenails. For some reason, color on my fingernails makes me feel like I’m wearing some else’s hands! I have a new favorite summer color for my toes. It’s an aqua shade. It makes me feel happy.
I can’t tell you who makes it nor the shade name. It came in a a little no name bottle in a swag bag from a running store expo. I’ll call it “Happy Blues.”
Floppy Hat on Big Ideas
I’m taming my temptation. What I mean is that quite often I am tempted to draw up a BIG plan to do something BIG. You can fill in the blank on what the “something” might be. It could be anything from meal planning to a spiritual discipline such as Bible reading & study. I will have a grand plan that usually involves long term maintenance. But I’ve decided that for now I will go small. Instead of instituting a big idea and hoping for big fruit, I’m going to tame that temptation and resist that urge. If I start something and do not finish it, I feel disappointed in myself. Therefore, I’m going small – at least for a while. It’s hard for me to explain what my “small” means but maybe it resonates with you in some way. Perhaps I can best explain it by using the phrase often heard in competition, “Go BIG or go home.” Sometimes the pressure I feel to “go big” sets me up for a big fall. So for now, I’m choosing to go small and enjoy the juicy flavor in one little bite.
“Go small and enjoy more.”

If you owned a food truck, what kind of food would you feature? (Audra and I pondered this question last night while eating our truck food at a vinyl covered picnic table in Palm Harbor.)
Do you have a trademark nail polish color for the summer?
How would you choose to “go small”?
